Scotland U14 squad chosen for Netherlands trip

Two ex-SBC players selected - Friday, 01 May 2015

Scotland Under-14s fly out to the Netherlands next week to compete in a tournament that will provide many players their first taste of international football. Two ex SBC players are part of this elite group. They are Hearts – Harry Cochrane (an ex- Academy Champion) and Kieran McKechnie form Rangers.

Scotland return to the tournament following their debut appearance last year, and will play three matches in four days against the hosts, Turkey and the Czech Republic in Rijssen.

Neil Mackintosh’s squad, in which only David Wilson, Chris Hamilton and Kieran McGrath have represented their country previously, also features 14 players from the Scottish FA’s Performance Schools.

Speaking to the Scottish FA website, Mackintosh said:
“It is a fantastic opportunity for our young players to experience international football against three top nations, many of whom traveling for the first time.

“The increased technical requirements and the level of intensity that will be expected will really aide their development. They will definitely come back much better players.

“We are delighted that so many Performance School players have made the squad, and it is a great reflection on the work that our coaches and the clubs have invested in these young players.
